latex pillow smell - odor

latex pillow odor

My recommendation if youre planning to buy new latex pillow to get rid of odor/smell, first airing it outside in the sunshine for about an hour. Second squeeze it a few times to push the crappy smelly air out too. and last but not the least put some lavender heads in the pillow case and the rubber smell wasn't noticeable.

Note: ithe sunshine may  degrade your latex. Best to airing it in the morning.

Philippine Idol vs. Pinoy Dream Academy vs. Pinoy Pop Superstar

hehehe Parang "CON ASS DIN 'TO"

I love Philippine Idol! Ang galing talaga ng franchise na ‘to. "This show has legs. The audition portion is always the most entertaining part, which also serves as an introduction to some of the “favorites” - na aalagaan hanggang Finals. Ira Marasigan, the very first “featured” singer is the front-runner to win everything, trust me. Although I loved Voltez V girl ha? Funny talaga ang mga auditions.

Pinoy Dream Academy - The U.S. version got cancelled last week after only two weeks (it got the worst ratings for ABC on record). Mahihirapan ng sobra ang ABS-CBN dito since they have to cast for looks and talent at the very same time which is very difficult. In other words, they have to look good on screen for the reality TV part and then sing really well during the performance day. Philippine Idol will blow this show out of the water. ABS-CBN should stop building that house immediately and count their losses now.

Pinoy Pop Superstar - Sadly, PPS is not an “event” like Philippine Idol or Dream Academy. The rehashed weekly Bagong Kampeon format is not working anymore, specially since the talent that they have on the show is suspect. Regine Velasquez cannot save this show — it’s the talent that will. And for the longest time now, PPS has not had a breakout talent like Gerald Santos, et al. The talent scouts need to work overtime, but the damage has already been done with the ratings slide in the past few weeks. The viewers will come back when the good singers come back. But right now, it’s been one disappointing week after another with no end in sight.

CON ASS updates

House approves resolution convening constituent assembly
By Maila AgerINQ7.netLast updated 06:35am (Mla time) 12/07/2006

(UPDATE) After the debates on Charter change ended, the House of Representatives on Thursday dawn approved through voice voting a resolution filed by the majority bloc to convene Congress into a constituent assembly.
At 5:37 a.m. Thursday, the House adopted viva voce, or through voice voting, House Resolution 1450 calling on Congress to convene and propose amendments to or revision of the Constitution upon a three-fourths vote of all its members.
Majority Floor Leader Prospero Nograles said the House would start sending invitations on Friday to all members of Congress, the House and the Senate included.
And at 10 a.m. on Dec. 12, Congress sitting as a joint assembly would convene at the plenary hall of the House of Representatives to start the process of proposing amendments to the 1987 Constitution.
The period of sponsorship and debates on HR 1450 began before midnight Wednesday and ended a little past 5 a.m. Thursday.
Over 10 lawmakers, mostly from the opposition bloc, except for Representatives Teodoro Locsin (Makati) and Rufino Biazon (Muntinlupa), interpellated Camarines Sur Representative Luis Villafuerte, the sponsor of the resolution.
Minority Floor Leader Francis Escudero grilled Villafuerte on the set of amendments that the majority bloc had allegedly prepared once a constituent assembly was convened.
Escudero specifically questioned the plan of the majority to postpone the May 2007 elections to November, thereby extending the term of incumbent officials for another six months, and the removal of term limits of members of the parliament.
But while the term of incumbent officials would be extended by six months, Villafuerte pointed out that the terms of those who will be elected in the November elections would be shortened by six months also.
He said members of an interim parliament, who will be elected in November 2007 will only serve until June 30, 2010.
Escudero argued, however, that the extension of term would only be good for incumbent officials who would run and win in the November elections but not for those who would be elected for the first time as they would only serve for two and half years.
Escudero also questioned how the House of Representatives would run if the constituent assembly is convened at the same time.
Villafuerte said that they could always find ways to harmonize the schedule of the assembly and the House.
Administration allies in the House rejected all the amendments the opposition bloc proposed on the resolution, including the separate voting of the House and the Senate on any proposed amendment to the Constitution.
Anti-Charter change advocates in the gallery, who monitored the session until morning, booed the voting.
Despite the setback, the House minority said they will continue to oppose the Charter change process and are considering a plan to file for a temporary restraining order.
Senate President Manuel Villar on Wednesday served notice that the chamber was prepared to fight the House-only constituent assembly (Con-ass) on all fronts.
He said the Senate was also long prepared to file a petition in the Supreme Court against the House-only constituent assembly.
Villar also said the Senate was prepared to mount a showdown in case a plebiscite would be called to ratify the changes proposed by the House

EDWIN VALERO "HE CAN MATCH UP WITH MANNY "PACMAN" PACQUIAO(profile from wikipedia.com)

EDWIN VALERO
Edwin Valero (born December 3, 1981 in Bolero Alto, Mérida, Venezuela) is an undefeated southpaw boxer who fights in the super featherweight (130 lb) division. His professional boxing record is 20-0 (20 KOs). Valero is the current WBA super featherweight champion.

Valero is best known for setting a world record by winning the first 18 fights of his career by first-round knockout. The previous record for consecutive first-round knockouts was 15 by Young Otto (record), who accomplished the feat in 1905. In Valero's nineteenth fight (March 25, 2006), Genaro Trazancos ended the first-round KO streak by surviving until the second round.
Valero defeated Vicente Mosquera by tenth-round TKO on August 5, 2006. With this win, Valero won the WBA super featherweight title. He also kept his any-round knockout streak intact, with 20 consecutive knockouts. The world record for consecutive knockouts is 44 by American Lamar Clark (record).

Career Roadblocks
On Feb 5, 2001, Valero was involved in a severe motorcycle accident in which he wasn't wearing a helmet. He fractured his skull and had surgery to remove a blood clot. This injury was sustained prior to him launching his pro career, and it has created roadblocks to major bodies sanctioning his fights. Valero claims that his Venezuelan doctor cleared him to fight on Jan 17, 2002 and he turned pro that July with a first-round KO.
Valero appeared to hit the jackpot when he was signed after his 12th pro fight by Golden Boy Promotions. Valero was scheduled to appear on HBO's Boxing After Dark, but in January 2004, he failed an MRI in New York and thus was not allowed to fight in the United States. As a result, the fight did not take place. Although he continues to fight outside the United States, he will not be allowed to fight in the US until he clears his medical tests with a state athletic commision.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING 2006

THANKSGIVING HISTORY

The Pilgrims, who celebrated the first thanksgiving in America, were fleeing religious prosecution in their native England. In 1609 a group of Pilgrims left England for the religious freedom in Holland where they lived and prospered. After a few years their children were speaking Dutch and had become attached to the Dutch way of life. This worried the Pilgrims. They considered the Dutch frivolous and their ideas a threat to their children's education and morality.
So they decided to leave Holland and travel to the New World. Their trip was financed by a group of English investors, the Merchant Adventurers. It was agreed that the Pilgrims would be given passage and supplies in exchange for their working for their backers for 7 years.
On Sept. 6, 1620 the Pilgrims set sail for the New World on a ship called the Mayflower. They sailed from Plymouth, England and aboard were 44 Pilgrims, who called themselves the "Saints", and 66 others ,whom the Pilgrims called the "Strangers."
The long trip was cold and damp and took 65 days. Since there was the danger of fire on the wooden ship, the food had to be eaten cold. Many passengers became sick and one person died by the time land was sighted on November 10th.
The long trip led to many disagreements between the "Saints" and the "Strangers". After land was sighted a meeting was held and an agreement was worked out, called the Mayflower Compact, which guaranteed equality and unified the two groups. They joined together and named themselves the "Pilgrims."
Although they had first sighted land off Cape Cod they did not settle until they arrived at Plymouth, which had been named by Captain John Smith in 1614. It was there that the Pilgrims decide to settle. Plymouth offered an excellent harbor. A large brook offered a resource for fish. The Pilgrims biggest concern was attack by the local Native American Indians. But the Patuxets were a peaceful group and did not prove to be a threat.
The first winter was devastating to the Pilgrims. The cold, snow and sleet was exceptionally heavy, interfering with the workers as they tried to construct their settlement. March brought warmer weather and the health of the Pilgrims improved, but many had died during the long winter. Of the 110 Pilgrims and crew who left England, less that 50 survived the first winter.
On March 16, 1621 , what was to become an important event took place, an Indian brave walked into the Plymouth settlement. The Pilgrims were frightened until the Indian called out "Welcome" (in English!).
His name was Samoset and he was an Abnaki Indian. He had learned English from the captains of fishing boats that had sailed off the coast. After staying the night Samoset left the next day. He soon returned with another Indian named Squanto who spoke better English than Samoset. Squanto told the Pilgrims of his voyages across the ocean and his visits to England and Spain. It was in England where he had learned English.
Squanto's importance to the Pilgrims was enormous and it can be said that they would not have survived without his help. It was Squanto who taught the Pilgrims how to tap the maple trees for sap. He taught them which plants were poisonous and which had medicinal powers. He taught them how to plant the Indian corn by heaping the earth into low mounds with several seeds and fish in each mound. The decaying fish fertilized the corn. He also taught them to plant other crops with the corn.
The harvest in October was very successful and the Pilgrims found themselves with enough food to put away for the winter. There was corn, fruits and vegetables, fish to be packed in salt, and meat to be cured over smoky fires.
The Pilgrims had much to celebrate, they had built homes in the wilderness, they had raised enough crops to keep them alive during the long coming winter, they were at peace with their Indian neighbors. They had beaten the odds and it was time to celebrate.
The Pilgrim Governor William Bradford proclaimed a day of thanksgiving to be shared by all the colonists and the neighboring Native Americans. They invited Squanto and the other Indians to join them in their celebration. Their chief, Massasoit, and 90 braves came to the celebration which lasted for 3 days. They played games, ran races, marched and played drums. The Indians demonstrated their skills with the bow and arrow and the Pilgrims demonstrated their musket skills. Exactly when the festival took place is uncertain, but it is believed the celebration took place in mid-October.
The following year the Pilgrims harvest was not as bountiful, as they were still unused to growing the corn. During the year they had also shared their stored food with newcomers and the Pilgrims ran short of food.
The 3rd year brought a spring and summer that was hot and dry with the crops dying in the fields. Governor Bradford ordered a day of fasting and prayer, and it was soon thereafter that the rain came. To celebrate - November 29th of that year was proclaimed a day of thanksgiving. This date is believed to be the real true beginning of the present day Thanksgiving Day.
The custom of an annually celebrated thanksgiving, held after the harvest, continued through the years. During the American Revolution (late 1770's) a day of national thanksgiving was suggested by the Continental Congress.
In 1817 New York State had adopted Thanksgiving Day as an annual custom. By the middle of the 19th century many other states also celebrated a Thanksgiving Day. In 1863 President Abraham Lincoln appointed a national day of thanksgiving. Since then each president has issued a Thanksgiving Day proclamation, usually designating the fourth Thursday of each November as the holiday.
